History covers a variety of activities. The buildings team, led by Faith Cleverdon, has made detailed surveys of several buildings dating back to the 15th century. The various archives and maps make up the greater part of this research for the earlier period, but as time went on buildings begin to play an increasing part in giving us a fuller picture of the life of the previous inhabitants of the area. Much of the history of Mellor and Ludworth is contained in the stones, bricks and timber of its buildings, starting with the Church tower from the 15th Century.
